Technology is Frustrating

So as many of you may have noticed, there is a comment on my last Posting that is all in Chinese.  It is advertising porn and I don't appreciate it.  I also don't appreciate the fact that the Blogger Center is completely unhelpful in how to block that person from ever commenting again.  I think that I have figured out how to block anyone who is not invited, but now the invitation process is screwing me up.  So.....

For those of you who like to comment, I need to hear from you.  Send me an email with your email address in the body of the email.  I will then copy and paste it and send out an invite to enable you to comment more.  Anyone who is not already reliable will have to be someone I know or get to know before I allow comments anymore.  If this doesn't work, then I am going to simply shut down the blog site and look at other media.

If anyone is technologically advanced and has constructive knowledge on how to even get a friggin response from the Blogger Help Centre, or knows how to block someone from commenting, please email me and let me know.

To all the rest of my faithful readers, please be patient with me as I sort this out.

Blessed Be

Learning Opportunities

"We cannot teach people anything. We can only help them discover it within themselves." Galileo.

I have sometimes had people ask me why it is that I did not tell them about some aspect of themselves, of which I was aware, long ago when I became aware of it. It is not like I have ever held out on information for people. It is just that sometimes they are just not in a place or space in which they are even wanting to look at stuff within. So I patiently wait until the time comes that they are ready.

I know when they are ready because they ask me a very direct question. It is not the type of question where one says something like, "Tell me everything". That is too broad and vague and impossible to cover. But when they say things like, "Why do you think it is that I am afraid of success?", well, then we're talkin'! The person is obviously ready since the question was direct and pointed. Until I hear a question like that I am only able to help them muddle through until the right questions begin to form in their minds and in their hearts. Once that happens, away we go! Very deep and profound healing can then take place. The person has now taken charge of their own healing and their own journey.

Seeing a shaman is not like getting into a taxi cab and saying "I don't know where I want to go, you just take over and drive now please." It is more like discovering how you can drive the vehicle yourself and then discovering that the vehicle is actually quite the powerful machine! Shiny and new and with perfect treads, it is the cat's meow of sports cars and can grip the road around any turn at optimal speed. But we, as shaman, don't just throw you into a sports car and say, "There you go, now drive it". We actually will help you learn the lessons of the rules of the road first, then give painstaking hands on instruction before we throw you the keys and let you hit the road. We, at least those of us who are responsible, want you to know to not drive drunk and that a stop sign actually means you come to a full stop. That way you don't end up creaming somebody and killing them or yourself.

Enough of the driving metaphors. The thing is that once the question is asked the answer is right there, just waiting to be heard. There is no way to actually share information that is not requested. Once the information is shared, then there are many discoveries within as a natural response to the information. Great wisdom can be achieved as these discoveries are put to good use. So next time you are sitting down with your favorite shaman, myself or whomever else, consciously ask the direct questions. Yes, you may get an "I don't know" answer, but at least that would be honest. You may, however, get some profound answers that you weren't expecting. Take the opportunity to listen, just listen. Then, take a deep breath and, without hesitation, ask the next question!

Not Quite Yet

So yesterday I blogged about the arrival of Spring! Well, this morning we again have sub zero temperatures and snow. Not a lot of snow, mind you, but still snow. Dagnammit! So I decided to cash in some tanning salon minutes and at least feel like spring is on the way. Yes, you read that right. Your favorite shaman goes to a tanning salon. And while I am at it, might I say that the Changes Salon in Saskatoon has very helpful and professional staff! So into the tanning machine I go. I call it my "time machine" because it has a certain number of minutes that it runs for. You step into this contraption after lotioning down and putting on goggles, push the "start" button, and voila! You have ultraviolet light in surround sound! For hours afterwards I can feel my skin tanning away!

The coolest thing about this is that with the blue light of the ultraviolet range, it eases depression as it stimulates the serotonin in the brain. No more SADD days! The most, ehem, uncomfortable thing about it is that you are...you guessed it...naked! Ahhh! I make extra sure that certain parts get lots of lotion! I don't want to be toasting any nuts other that the almonds on the stove! This is not only all new to me, but a complete adventure taboot! I have never done anything like this before and the only reason I am is so that hopefully I don't sunburn this spring/summer when I (finally) am out in the garden. Theoretically, it should work. Right?......Right?!......RIGHT!!!!!?

Winter Wonderland

I am happy to say that, as beautiful as this is, the winter wonderland just may be done for the season. You never really know, as March came in like a lamb and therefore could go out like a lion. But most of the snow in my yard is melted and I am getting that spring time itch to get out there and start digging in the dirt. So between that and the fact that our cat is incessantly howling to go outside, I have come to the conclusion that spring just might be here.

While experiencing that and the New Moon, I am just chomping at the bit to get going with a few projects. I have eaves troughs that need replacing and a fire pit area with raised garden beds to create. That includes the creation of a new flowerbed as well and the planting of a tree. I can hardly wait!

Today is St. Patrick's Day. Although I am completely into the Wee Folk and the Luck'o'the Irish, I am not into St. Patty himself, as he was the one responsible for killing and driving away the Pagans from Ireland. Just a minor Holy War in the history of the earth, but a brutal one at that. As though there is any such thing as a war that is Holy! So no, I don't celebrate that particular "saint", but I do like to wear green and actually look good in it. Considering that spring is just around the corner, I figure, "Why the heck not?!"

Butterflies Are Free

Actually, these ones weren't free at all. They cost me perhaps seven dollars at a craft store. I have used them to decorate my altar because I belong to the Butterfly Clan. I consider myself to be quite a moth man indeed. In fact I am so much a moth man that all of my significant others in my life have always been fire elementals. Like a moth to a flame, I get drawn in and have no idea of how hot the encounter is going to get!

Butterfly Clan people are Air elementals. We are able to multitask like crazy and eventually get everything done. We have brilliant minds, when in balance, and egos the size of Mt.Everest when not in balance. Also, when we are not grounded we come across to the rest of the world as total space cadets. Being grounded myself, I find the space cadets to be highly annoying, especially because at that moment they have no intention of listening to anyone who is encouraging them to get their feet back on the ground.

We also need to acknowledge what butterfly stage we are at with any given thing at any given moment. If we are in the egg stage, we know something is about to happen for us, but are not sure what it is. In the larva stage we are new to something and are not quite sure what we are going to do with it. This is much where I am with the technology aspects of my life. Then we go into the caterpillar stage. In this stage we are ravenous for information and absolutely devour all forms of information and knowledge on the topic of our obsession. There then comes a time when we enter the chrysalis stage. This is when we withdraw and cocoon ourselves so that we can integrate what we have experienced and learned. Once complete, we leave this stage and emerge completely transformed as the butterfly or moth. When we do this, sometimes people have a difficult time adjusting to who we now are. They want us to be the person they knew last week, but we have completely changed and are now someone else. If they give it a chance and get to know the new person in front of them, they will find that there is much to be appreciated. If they are resistant, we leave them behind, spreading our wings and finding new social circles in which to thrive.

So there you have it. This is what being an Air elemental in the Butterfly Clan is all about. Transformation of self is of the utmost importance to us.

The Rock Star!

It has been a while since my last blog entry. I have been busy incorporating a very large learning curve! My friend interviewed me on her Youtube channel and before I knew it, I had one of my own! So now I am finding a new medium with which to reach out to the world. If you are interested in seeing my videos, just log onto youtube.com/trentdeerhorn and you will find my videos on there, as well as some really funky ones that I have favourited from other video channels.

The learning curve has to do with first off the adjustment of using video as opposed to literature to reach out and communicate. I am still not sure that I even like how I look in the videos, or even how I sound. But the information content is what I wanted to get out there, so I will put up with those things. Secondly, the learning curve has to do with just utilizing technology to take the video from my recording and post it into my youtube channel. I think I might have it down now. However, my dear friend, Beata, who interviewed me, has coached me now three times in how to do it and I am hoping that I don't need to call on her again for the next one. In one of the videos I do some drumming and chanting, and that is where the "Rock Star" title comes from for this post.

Sometimes I feel like my talent outweighs my skills when it comes to technology. I have been in bands and such before, and each time I have found that it works best if I just leave the tech stuff to the techs and get up to the microphone and do what I do. Over the years it has become quite easy to rely on others to do the things that thread it all together into a nice presentation. Now I'm on my own with the tech stuff and sometimes feel overwhelmed. I consider myself to be technologically challenged. Perhaps I now need to start considering myself to be technologically skilled so that all this stuff will come easier. I remember how challenged I felt when it came to blogging, and then when it came to using my merchant machine to process credit/debit cards for sessions. Now here I am in the youtube dimension and thinking to myself, "How the heck did I get here so fast?" I remember having a dream only a few months ago about making this blog entry and seeing in the back of my mind my youtube channel as I typed the entry into the blog. Now, so quickly, here it is. All I can say is.....WOW!

Time Changes all Things

As many of you know I create what is called "Spirit Energy Portraits". These are painted interpretations on canvas of the colours of your energy field, symbols, spirit guides, ancestral spirits and power animals that are around you. They may also include 3-D effects such as crystals and gem stones or feathers etc attached to the painting. The Spirit Energy Portraits illustrate where you are at this point in time and highlight areas of strength and weakness to provide a meditative tool.

Here is the really cool thing about these portraits. They change. Over time there are images that surface up and others that were right there suddenly disappear! Why is this? Well, when I create these beautiful pieces of art, I tune into the person's energy field. I don't know if everyone has realized this little no-brainer or not, but energy is not stagnant. It shifts, moves and changes. So because a Spirit Energy Portrait is an expression of a person's energy field, then as they shift, change and grow, the portrait will reveal that as well. They also display karmic connections and past life events. So as a particular karmic pattern is released, that expression in the portrait may also be released and morph into the new, more positive, pattern that is now being expressed.

Sometimes the changes even freak me out! I have seen my own change, but I have also seen some change that belong to others. It never fails to amaze me how dramatically this change in the portrait can happen!

How Eye See It 3

Okay folks! Here they are! This is the new look for your favourite shaman! I hope you like the new frames because I sure do! Ah, who am I kidding? I don't care much about what anyone thinks of them. They make me happy and so I am keeping them! I want to take this opportunity to thank Sherri and Bill at the Walmart Vision Centre for helping me not only find the perfect new frames, but for their wonderful attentive attitudes. The service I received there was amazing.

So yes, now I have a very jazzy set of frames. Having accomplished that, I now must look at jazzing up the rest of my wardrobe. I did that 2 years ago, as some of you may recall. But now that 2 years have gone buy, I am painfully aware that I am unable to fit into some of the pants I bought back then. So that is next on my agenda. Just because I am a shaman doesn't mean that I can't be stylish!

I might also mention that the new prescription is helping me to see things much more clearly. This is something that is going to be filtering into the rest of my life as well. So hang on for the ride because there are numerous insights that are going to be coming your way as a result!
